Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge 46

Hey everyone! Today I did the sketch challenge over at Peachy Keen Stamps. I love sketch challenges.  When I saw it the ocean popped into my head. Yeah I know I'm an odd one. Anyways, here is what I came up with.
Materials Used:
- Cardstock: Stampin' up, and  Papertrey ink.
-Ink: Stampin' up Classic ink.
- Stamps: Papertrey ink "Birthday Basics." Market Street Stamps " Sea Animals," and " Under the Sea."
- Cricut:  Life's a Beach
- Colored images with prisma color pencils.
- Glossy Accents.

I hope everyone has a great day. I will be back tomorrow.  My little cousin is turning 14 tomorrow. She has requested a horse card. Yeah it's not made yet. So when it's done I will post it. Take care! ** edit my little cousin Devin saw my card and has claimed it as her's. I guess a sea horse counts. I will be back tomorrow with another card hopefully.**

Peachy Keen Let's Face it Friday Altered card Storage

6 hours left to enter! I just made it! I wasn't going to do this challenge at first.  I really don't get cards from other people throughout the year, so I had no idea what to do. I try to make things that I will use. I finally decided to alter one of my old photo boxes and put all my cards in there. I normally just throw them in a drawer and go through them when I need one.

 Bottom of the box.

As you can see I kept this so simple. I just cut some Cosmo Cricket and put it on the box. I distressed all the edges with a sanding block. I also used distressed ink around the edges. For the word "cards" I damped it with water and then crinkled it up. Once dry added stitching, distress ink, and my Peachy Keen Faces. After that I called it done.

Materials Used:
-Photo Box
-Cosmo Cricket paper. I believe it's Girly Friday and Tuesday that were used. Kinda lost the tags.
-Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Tea Dye."
-Sakura Gell Roll Black.
-Staz On Jet Balck.
-Peachy Keen Stamps "Laughy Taffy" PK-660.
- Cricut Cart Nursery Rhythms.

Alternatives to Copics

Ok so I know everyone wants Copics, but they are so expensive. So a better alternative (to me) is primsacolor pencils. Now you can do gamsol technique or  two other techniques Yup that's right two more. You can color and blend with a colorless pencil. Please see the following links Coloring , Coloring Continued, and Tips . Now the last way is to color like normal and then blend with a colorless marker. All of these techniques will give you a different look.  I tested each of these out to see which one I like. Now please excuse my boo boos. If this was for a card I would have stayed in the lines. LOL ok maybe not, but that's what scissors are for right?
So if I had to rate them I would say colorless marker, colorless pencil, and finally gamsol. I would have put the colorless pencil first, but I really like the blending of the marker. Now each technique has it's pros and cons. I will start with the colorless pencil.

Colorless Pencil Pros.
The biggest pro is you really only need your pencils( just keep going over with the lighter shade). If you choose to get the colorless pencil you get two to a pack for  around $3 at Michaels. Another pro  is the blender will never be tainted by another color.  Just scribble and it's gone. Any Ink will do( Dye Based). I normally use my SU ink.

Colorless Pencil Con:
The biggest and only con is once you blend you can't really add anymore color. Now why is that? Well  your paper has some texture to it. You tend to flatten out the texture so it's smooth when you blend. This can be fixed if you add a fixative  to the paper. See this Video . She explains what happens and shows you coloring techniques.

Colorless Marker Con:
Well it stinks. So if your are sensitive to smell this is not for you. I think all alcohol base markers will smell. Another big con is if you forget to clean the tip you ruined your colorless blender. So Don't  Forget! Oh it cost almost 5$. You need to use Memento ink. I found that out the hard way.

Colorless Marker Pro:
It easily blends the colors. The final results are beautiful.

Gamsol Cons:
You need to buy odorless mineral spirits, and stumps. You also need to clean the stump when you change colors. If you don't you can transfer to color to another area. You need to use Staz On, or Memento.

Gamsol Pros:
You really just need to lay down a heavy area of color and just pull the color where you need to. By doing this it will gradually get lighter. The end result is a softer looking image.

** Some things you maybe wondering. All images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black. The stamp is from Peachy Keen Stamps. It's PK-329 Chill Baby Chill Snowman Set.**

I hope this helped everyone who is trying to find a better alternative to Copics. One day maybe I will own some =) Thanks for stopping by.

Throwback Thursday 2/3/11

I made this card  for Emma's throwback  thursday challenge.  I must say this took longer than I thought. The water I made by using  diamond glaze and reinkers. All I did was pour a bunch of diamond glaze on a piece of card stock and put a drop of 3 different color reinkers in it. After that I  blended it all together. Yeah kinda messy. Use a craft mat. The background is made by using a scallop circle and inking the edges. I hope you all like it.

Materials Used:
- Diamond Glaze
.-Pop Dots
-Peachy Keen Stamps: Critter Faces set A small (PK-753), Critter Faces Set A Medium (Pk754).
-My Creative Time Set " Mom You Rock"
- Cricut Cart " Just Beacuse Cards," " Create a Critter."
- Scalloped circle. Mine was a Spellbinders die.

Xs and Os!
Valentine's Day is right around the corner and one of the most celebrated "Hallmark" holidays during the year! Let's "one up" Hallmark though ('cause they got nothin' on a handmade card or gift), and create a Peachified valentine using X's & O's somewhere on our projects! X's and O's don't have to be the main focus on your project, but should be the evident theme of your project.
  • Design must be new
  • Project must include Peachy Keen Faces
  • Link to Mr. Linky before February 4th
Nothing like waiting until the last minute right? I've been busy cleaning snow! Oh and I've been playing with my new camera. I got a DSLR. I've been looking for two years. So what pushed me over the edge? I'm going to Poland in May. My grandma(she lives in Warsaw) and aunt will be taking me to a Salt mine. They have a  a church, and hospital in there. I can't wait. I will also being going to Auschwitz. So I need an awesome camera and need to know how to use it! Ok Ok onto my card. This card  was an A2 size card until I used a border punch. Hope you like it.
